Include Floor Rugs for Better Design

A common misconception by most people is thinking that the colour of the walls is the first consideration when designing a room. They often see newly-built homes with no decorations yet but with newly painted walls. Often, the new homeowners will come in and decorate the entire house based on the wall's colors.

Although there's nothing wrong with this method, homeowners usually have a hard time picking out the right items that will go with room's color. They may even have a few items from their old home that doesn't quite fit well with the room design, but they will insist on putting them there nonetheless. Floor rugs fit this given situation well.

There are times that a homeowner has an old floor rug or two from their old homes and they still want to use them in the new home. High quality floor rugs, most especially, tend to last a long time, of up to twenty years when properly maintained, and they still look good after all those years. You can definitely still use them in your new home. If you happen to own a floor rug that fits that description, you might want to consider designing the entire room around that floor rug. Doing it this way is so much easier.

Examine the floor rug that you will place inside the room. The colors of the rug will be your basis for the tone of the draperies, the furniture, and the colors of the wall. If the rug has intricate patterns set against a background color, you can choose that background color as the color of the entire room. The other colors on the rug, usually the less noticeable ones, can be used as the color of the throw pillows or other accessories inside the room.

This is the ideal way of making sure the floor rug that you will place will work for the room where it's at. However, not all of us have that luxury of designing an entire room from scratch. Usually, we will buy a floor rug that will fit to an already decorated room. Doing it this way is harder, but not impossible. You just have to follow certain guidelines and tips regarding picking the right floor rugs. These considerations include the size of the rug, the materials the rugs were made of, the color and pattern, and in some instances the price of the floor rugs.

Shopping for the right floor rugs can be a fun activity even though you may feel confused at times trying to pick one floor rug from the many choices that are available for you. You don't have to rush yourself into buying one. In fact, if you look around long enough, you may find the right floor rug at the price you can afford.
