More Benefits To Having Floor Rugs?

Floor rugs as air freshener? Reading about floor rugs, you probably know everything there is to know about this very versatile floor decoration. You know how it beautifies a dull room, brightening up or tidying an area, or giving character to a lifeless place in your home. You’re most like have read also how floor rugs protects your delicate wood floor or how it absorbs excessive noise inside a room. You know everything, or so you thought. Again, as air freshener?

We all know that dust and other particles that fall on floor rugs are usually trapped in the rug fibers, especially those with a longer-than-usual pile. For some, this is a bad thing, but not necessarily so. When these dust, allergens like pet dander, and other particles get trapped on the rugs’ fiber, they don’t circulate back into the air you breathe. They’re just there, trapped. They will not cause any harm to people, especially to kids. The danger comes when too much dusts and particles have accumulated on the floor rugs. This is why regular vacuuming and cleaning of rugs is highly recommended. When kids are playing on floor rugs in their rooms, it is a must that those rugs are properly maintained and cleaned daily for those trapped dusts, allergens, and various particles.

Now, consider smooth floor surfaces that don’t have any rugs. When dust falls on the floor, they tend to re-circulate back into our air when we walk on the floor or when wind or breeze disturbs them. You have a great chance that you will inhale them into your bodies where they may cause harm, especially if you are allergic to pollens, for example. Using floor rugs prevent these things from happening and they help make the air around us cleaner and safer.

There have been experiments and research to support this. They compared the presence of airborne dust under controlled conditions, on floors that have floor rugs, and floors that don’t have any. When people walk on those floors with dust, they found out that rug-less floors have more airborne dust as a result of the disturbance caused by walking on it. In contrast, the one with floor rugs have fewer disturbed dust because majority of those dust got trapped on the rugs. This means less dust in the breathing zone of the inhabitants of the area.

However, we don’t need to rely on those research and studies to believe the results. They are quite common sense but people are more likely to believe things when there have been scientific research done on the subject. What you need to focus on, is to make sure you regularly clean the rugs by vacuuming them often, and even taking them to professional rug cleaners once in a while.

Include Floor Rugs for Better Design

A common misconception by most people is thinking that the colour of the walls is the first consideration when designing a room. They often see newly-built homes with no decorations yet but with newly painted walls. Often, the new homeowners will come in and decorate the entire house based on the wall's colors.

Although there's nothing wrong with this method, homeowners usually have a hard time picking out the right items that will go with room's color. They may even have a few items from their old home that doesn't quite fit well with the room design, but they will insist on putting them there nonetheless. Floor rugs fit this given situation well.

There are times that a homeowner has an old floor rug or two from their old homes and they still want to use them in the new home. High quality floor rugs, most especially, tend to last a long time, of up to twenty years when properly maintained, and they still look good after all those years. You can definitely still use them in your new home. If you happen to own a floor rug that fits that description, you might want to consider designing the entire room around that floor rug. Doing it this way is so much easier.

Examine the floor rug that you will place inside the room. The colors of the rug will be your basis for the tone of the draperies, the furniture, and the colors of the wall. If the rug has intricate patterns set against a background color, you can choose that background color as the color of the entire room. The other colors on the rug, usually the less noticeable ones, can be used as the color of the throw pillows or other accessories inside the room.

This is the ideal way of making sure the floor rug that you will place will work for the room where it's at. However, not all of us have that luxury of designing an entire room from scratch. Usually, we will buy a floor rug that will fit to an already decorated room. Doing it this way is harder, but not impossible. You just have to follow certain guidelines and tips regarding picking the right floor rugs. These considerations include the size of the rug, the materials the rugs were made of, the color and pattern, and in some instances the price of the floor rugs.

Shopping for the right floor rugs can be a fun activity even though you may feel confused at times trying to pick one floor rug from the many choices that are available for you. You don't have to rush yourself into buying one. In fact, if you look around long enough, you may find the right floor rug at the price you can afford.
